everybody dance now!

Guess what? Emily Ogden is an officially documented member of the University of Wollongong Dance Club! Does that sound right? Yes, yes it does. I happily paid $20 to go to as many dance classes I possibly can throughout the week.

Students teach the dance club, and they offer a bunch of different classes at random times and you can go to whichever ones fit into your schedule. Since I have a lot of dead time between classes and don’t have enough time to head back to my dorms – this seemed like the perfect antidote to my boredom. I went to…should I list them…ok, you convinced me, I will…ballroom, contemporary, hip hop, funk, and modern expressive! Tomorrow my friend and I are going to salsa! No matter what the interesting name of the class is – they were all pretty similar. The idea is to learn a dance by the end of session and then perform it, if ya want. I really, really enjoyed myself, and it kept me busy and moving! I’ve converted several of my friends from “I don’t dance” to… “I guess I’ll check it out…” to “when’s the next class?” I’ll probably perform a solo recital for everyone once I get back to the states…just joking!

goallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!

Underwater hockey practice was a blast this week! We even played with the “advanced players” also called “seedy, old men” by my roommate. ;) Anyways, they are pretty into it, and we played with a full team in the “deep” end of the pool! And guess what? I scored my first goal! It was great!

Next Saturday there’s an underwater hockey competition in Sydney! I’m planning on going and hopefully competing with our women’s team. My roommate promises it’s gonna be pretty casual! I hope so! As long as it’s fun! And I’m gonna get a cute red “swimmer” that says “underwater hockey” on it! I’m kinda excited…and not only about the swimsuit, but it definitely is a factor to my excitement! I’ll let ya know how the competition goes!
